Security Agency Grading Exercise (SAGE) was started on 2006 and made mandatory since 2009. The aim of this annual grading exercise is to motivated all licensed security agencies to raise security and service standard while helping customers to differentiate the service quality between agencies.

The assessment period usually start from June 1 of the previous year to May 31 of the current year. There are some revised criteria to assess on the progressiveness of human resource policy in each security agency.

What’s on the “Employment Category for SAGE 2018”? On March 11, 2018 PLRD updated the criteria for SAGE 2018 with three new main areas as follows.

  1. Overtime Exemption (OTE) - The first criteria of SAGE 2018 (updated March 11) consists the requirement to manage security officer’s productivity with the exemption of or reducing the overtime work.
  2. Key Employment Terms (KETs) - The requirement of accurate and timely issuance of KETs and itemised payslip with the use of advance HR system (IT-based).
  3. Sustainable Manpower - Systems that enables reward/retention practices, such as: salary increment and benefits.
